Once Immersed is installed on your headset and computer, start them up and follow the in-app steps to connect.
If you see “Connection Failure…”, the headset and computer cannot see each other on your Local Area Network (LAN).
#1 Recommendation: Try Wi-Fi Direct to side-step all connection issues and minimize latency!
Otherwise, please try the following:
- Make sure the headset and computer are on the same local WiFi network. They need to be on the same band (i.e., 5ghz).
- Restart the Immersed Desktop Agent and Immersed VR application, and try again (to make sure the apps are not in a weird state).
- Turn off any VPNs and ensure there are no blocking background VPN processes still running.
- Check any anti-virus software installed that can prevent connection. Disable temporarily to test if they’re blocking Immersed.
- Check your firewall settings in Firewall & Network Protection. Take note of your active network, then select Allow an app through firewall.
- Make sure Immersed is allowed for your active network.
- Check if you have any programs using/blocking port ranges 21000-21010, or if your router configuration blocks it. If so, remove those restrictions.
- AGAIN, restart the Immersed Desktop Agent and Immersed VR application after any of the above changes to make sure the apps are not in a weird state.
- Did you change your Oculus username since signing up for Immersed? If so, this can also prevent connection. So, please contact us directly on support@immersed.com.
Other Connection Errors
Ports 21000 or 21010 being blocked can be because of a work computer having restrictions, overly secure public WiFi, or your personal computer running an application, etc., that might be using the same ports.
One indication of this being an issue is seeing, “Your computer’s ports are blocking Immersed” on the agent.
Check which programs are listening to port 21000, 21010 then remove any blocking processes.
For example, open the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Once opened, you can check for each port.
For example, finding port 21000 using `netstat -ano | find “21000”`
- Destroy the process: `taskkill /PID {processID} /F`
- If you don’t find any process with netstat, Hyper-V might block our port.
- Restart the Immersed agent and connect.
If you still cannot connect after trying all these items, please try to uninstall and reinstall the agent and VR applications one last time. If that doesn’t work, we highly recommend Wi-Fi Direct!
Latency
In laptops with the hybrid GPU systems (integrated + dedicated), it is recommended to set up using integrated GPU manually for best performance.
- Press the Windows Key, type Graphics settings.
- Press Browse button and choose C:/Program Files/Immersed/Immersed.exe as follow image.
3. Press Options button of Immersed section, and choose Power saving button. Then Press Save button.
