Hand tracking is a Meta system setting and is not on by default. To learn how to turn on hand tracking, go here.
ENABLING/DISABLING HANDS INTERACTION In order to prevent accidentally interacting with your screens or environment when using hands (e.g. when typing), use a
ring finger to thumb pinch to disable hand interactions. Your hands will change transparency or color.
ACCURACY & STABILITY In order to use hands accurately and consistently, make sure you have adequate lighting in your room.
Unless otherwise stated, hand gestures may be done with either hand.
To open the quick menu, press the button that appears on either arm/hand. You may also look directly at it for a few seconds and it will automatically open.
Open Oculus Menu
right hand palm facing towards you, pinch and hold with your pointer finger and thumb.
Open Immersed Menu
left hand palm facing towards you, pinch and hold with your pointer finger and thumb for 3 seconds.
Aiming and Selecting
With your palm facing away from you, use your pointer finger and thumb to aim. "Half" pinch to summon the laser pointer. Full pinch to select.
Moving Screens/VR Objects, Resize Objects, Adjust Rotation
Moving Screens/Objects: With screens or portals unpinned and with your palm facing away from you, use your pointer finger and thumb to aim. Pinch to grab a screen or object (quick menu, whiteboard, etc).
Resize/Rotate: See Screens. Alternatively, pinch with both pointer fingers on the same object and pull away in opposite directions to enlarge the object. Similarly, pinch with both pointer fingers on the same object and pull together to shrink the object.
Note: when keyboard calibration is on, manual adjustments of the keyboard's position are disabled. Disable keyboard calibration to manually adjust your keyboard's position.
Pinch with pointer finger and hold--you should now see red diamonds appear. While still holding and aiming at the area right beneath a diamond, let go of the pinch to teleport to that seat.
Use a ring finger to thumb pinch to disable hand interaction with the environment. When disabled in a solo room, your hands will become transparent. When disabled in a networked room, your hands will take on the color of your avatar's skin tone.
